Taking emergency response seriously, APDM conducted a school-wide fire and earthquake drill on July 21, 2016. Staff and Students alike were briefed to stay calm and alert in such situations. Each grade level was given a chance to practice accident precautionary measures. The drills given were unannounced and students must be knowledgeable on the steps and actions to be undertaken when an emergency siren is heard during class. The students of APDM were briefed to perform ‘duck, cover and hold’ as steps to follow during an earthquake. For the fire drill, an organized simulation of the evacuation plan was implemented.
In November 2014, Sir Archie had the privilege of attending an orientation at the Francis W. Parker School in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Founded in 1901, this school is recognized to be among the best progressive schools in the USA based on the progressive educational philosophies of John Dewey and its founder, Colonel
Francis Wayland Parker. Offering kindergarten to high school programs, the said school emphasizes community and citizenship which are among the values being promoted in Academia Progresiva de Manila. Among other schools and educational facilities visited by Sir Archie were the Esperanza School and the University of Illinois where educational strategies for students with exceptionalities were discussed.
